English Speaking Environment
In our quest to improvise the Communication Skills of the students, School has started English Communication Classes and has printed English Communication Booklets for all the students, where focus is mainly laid on the verbal component, usage of grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
Fast Track Communication Classes
No one denies the importance of English language in present time as global language. It is clear that English language has become more dominant around the world.
In order to get Scholars well versed with English language and to give them exposure, confidence and platform to perform, explore and express themselves; we introduced Fast Track English Communication Classes in School during Summer Break. It was definitely beneficial to the students and proved to be a huge success.We have successfully launched English Speaking Club (ESC) to encourage English speaking in School. We believe that learning is an ongoing process and these surely are firm steps in this direction.
English Week
First time in YS, English Week was celebrated to motivate the students to accept and to enjoy the international language or we should call it link language i.e. English.
The main objectives of celebrating this Week were:-
To arouse students interest in accepting learning English through language games.
To create students interest in accepting the official language English
To motivate them to speak English without any hesitation.
To develop leadership skills
“To love to enjoy and to explore English”, was the theme of English week. It was inaugurated on 7 October 2013 with great pomp and show and it continued till 14 October 2013. In order to enhance students’ interest in English different activities were held during English Week .All the activities were divided into two parts- Morning assembly activities and Classroom activities. The planning was done in such a way that each class participated in the Morning assembly activities and on the other hand there was no loss of their academics as extended period was given to that particular class for the every next day.
To summarize the activities, there was poetry recitation role play, Spell Bee, Story-telling, describing appearances, Parts of speech, Shopping Guide Extensive Reading, Treasure Hunk, Intonation fun game, In your style feminine or Masculine and matches with running commentary. All students participated with great zeal and they enjoyed a lot.
Students got chance to display their talent in the assembly through poetry recitation, Spell- bee and English Quiz. Besides it, to involve each and every student there were classroom activities in which group performance was judged which helped them to learn how to work in a team.
